Dear Shareholder
Wintergardens Board of Directors has approved the Spectrum proposal for a six-year contract for both Infrastructure (hardware) and services (cable and internet). The cost will be $18.00 per month per unit (not including taxes & fees), with a 4% annual increase starting January 1, 2020.
Now that the contract has been signed and mailed, it will take approximately 2-3 weeks, for Spectrum to arrange for the allotment of equipment. This should take affect prior to the end of March, date to be determined. This contract entitles each unit to receive TV cable, a digital Set Top Box (STB), internet (100 Mb) and a modem. The channel lineup is the Spectrum TV Select, see attached. You will also have access to the TV channel guide, On Demand, and the music channels. Although there is no fee directly from Spectrum for these services you will receive a monthly bill with zero balance owing for these services. If you already have an account with Spectrum it will take two billing cycles to adjust your bill to reflect the new conditions of the contract. Please remember to always check your bill to ensure that you are receiving the entitled services, and the billing for the services is correct.
Each shareholder/renter will be responsible to go to the Spectrum office, located at 1289 S 2nd Ave, Yuma, AZ, Tel# (866) 874-2389, to create an account, if you do not already have one, pick up the STB, the modem and self-installation kit. Should you require additional services, i.e., another STB for a second TV, a DVR or additional channels you will be responsible for the extra fees and you will be billed for these extra services monthly. It is important to note that the STB and modem will remain with the Unit permanently. You do not need to return this equipment. It will however go to SLEEP over the summer if it is not used, so you will have to call Spectrum upon your return to have them AWAKEN the equipment. It is simple a push of the switch in their office.
There are options for the installation of the STB and the modem:
- If you would like Spectrum to professionally install the equipment, call their office and tell them you reside at 2700 W 8th St, Unit # and what you need. There will be a fee for this installation of $49.99. Spectrum recommends that if you have not had a service call within the last two years that you ask for professional installation as it is possible that the external wiring will need to be replaced.
OR
- You pick up the self-installation kit, do your best to install it. This sends sends a service Ping to Spectrum, so they know you are trying to install the kit. If you have trouble, you call Spectrum and ask for technician assistance with the installation. There is a good chance the installation fee could be waived. Spectrum will charge the installation fee if you don’t do your best to install it. Thereafter there should not be an extra service fee to replace the external wiring.
OR
- If you already have the modem equipment you call Spectrum and advise them that you want to SWAP OUT the modem equipment. This should be a professional installation and no fee charged. Spectrum recommends that if you have not had a service call within the last two years that you ask for professional installation as it is possible that the external wiring will need to be replaced.
OR
- If you have recently picked up a new modem from Spectrum you can call their office and ask if your equipment is compatible with the new services. This is important, particularly for the new internet speed. If the modem is not compatible, return to Options 2 or 3.
If you are a Shareholder that rents out your property you can have the new equipment installed so that it is ready for your renters, or, you tell the renter that they are responsible for opening an account with Spectrum and picking up the equipment. If you choose to install the equipment yourself, you may wish to ask for a deposit on the equipment as you are ultimately responsible for it.
There will no doubt be some issues with the transfer from the old equipment to the new. With a little time and patience, we will have improved services from our old existing contract.
Gordon Gregoire
President.
